6 Shopping secrets that stores don't want you to know!

Getting a good deal is a game, here's how to win.

4. Shopping in store and then buying online

This is must for any savvy shopper and most of us have the tools to make sure we are getting the best price. If you have a smart phone, there are free apps available that will search the internet and show you how much the item is at various online retailers.

What they don't want you to know

  • Apps like Quick Scan and Red Laser use your smart phone camera to scan the bar code providing you with prices for that item from online retailers.
  • There are a lot of big retailers that will match online prices, so don't be shy to ask at the checkout. Be ready to show the online price.
  • There are more deals and coupons on the store website then in the actual store. Way more. Sign up right here at Yay! Savings we send you the newest coupons daily. When you see a sale or item you want, you can use the online coupon to get a better deal at the store.

5. The Maze

Whether you're shopping for groceries, blue jeans, or TVs, do you ever feel like you're in a maze with only one way out? Retailers trap you on purpose. They make the easiest path from Point A to Point B a path that will cause you to pass the most (and most expensive) goods. The more items you pass, the more likely you'll be to buy them.

What they don't want you to know

Retailers place the items they really want you to buy at eye level and in front. Don't be afraid to take shortcuts through a store, and be sure to look up and down for more-affordable options. Ever wonder why clearence items are in the back? It's so you pass all the expensive stuff first!

6. The Seasonal Items

Seasonal items are big sellers for the retailers, but they have a limited shelf life. Buying now for next year is a great way to get the items you want at a significant discount.

What they don't want you to know

Most times, unsold seasonal items go in storage and then right back on the shelf next year. Buying the product after the season is over, will save you big bucks. So buy when it is on sale, and store it yourself. You will laugh when you see the same item at double the price the next season.
