Simple ways to save BIG at your favorite stores
Where the deals are hiding at each store and how to find them.
The Internet is full of deals, discounts, and other ways to save money online. However, the big box home improvement stores often have the sort of deals and discounts that you just can't pass up! Here's a list of six ways to help you save money online.
1. Home Depot - Big Seasonal Discounts
One of the very best ways to shop online is to go for the big name brands and hit them when they offer discounts, special financing, and pricing deals on wholesale goods. Home Depot is using the Fourth of July to offer their exclusive "Red, White, and Blue Savings" deals, most of which offer up to 30% off new home appliances. And don't worry - the sticker price doesn't go up accordingly, so you actually are saving money!
Another good bet is to check out Home Depot's Savings Center on their website before heading out to a pushy salesman. You can view all the clearance items and older model appliances, which are usually put up for a pretty hefty discount (think 25% off). Remember: last year's model of a new refrigerator is going to work just as well as this year's, and it'll be a lot cheaper!
2. Lowe's - Financing Deals Up to 18 Months
Not to be left behind, Lowe's is also offering anywhere from 10% to 30% off select home appliances to celebrate the Fourth of July. The company is offering an additional 5% discount if you choose to finance over a period of up to 18 months, which is a great way to get that new dishwasher or refrigerator on a budget! Just make sure you pay off the whole amount before the due date that Lowe's gives you, or you'll be paying some serious interest on your purchase.
3. IKEA - Family Rewards, Mattress Removal, and Free Coffee
The Swedes are not to be left out of the running for great deals and bonuses. IKEA offers numerous benefits for shoppers, most of which are bundled with the free IKEA Family rewards club. This free and no-strings-attached rewards club guarantees you free mattress removal with the purchase of a new one (saving you the hassle of lugging the old ratty one away!), monthly discounts off new appliances and other items in the IKEA Family Shop, and even a free cup of coffee for that early morning trip!
4. Michaels - Rotating Weekly Deals, Free Shipping Over $50
If you're looking for household materials that are a little less extravagant, check out Michaels. The arts and crafts giant is offering free shipping on orders over $50, as well as a rotating weekly ad page that offers discounts on various items throughout the store.
5. Best Buy - In-Store Clearance Items and Open Box Deals
If you're willing to go for it, Best Buy's in-store clearance items and open box deals are a great way to save big. The in-store clearance items are unopened and factory-sealed. These items are usually discontinued from the manufacturer, overstocked, or end of stock, which just means that the item needs to go as soon as possible. The open box deals are items that have been opened, but Best Buy promises that they are functional. Still, show some caution, as they may be missing items and other accessories or have flaws that are not covered by Best Buy warranties.
